Creating Favicon For Your Website or Blog

30 July 2008 1 views 3 Comments

If you own a website or a blog, you might wanna also add your very own personalized favicon.

A favicon, also known as a “favorites icon”, “website icon”, “page icon” or “urlicon”, is an image associated with a particular website or web page. Webmasters can create such an icon, and install it on their website to give additional “uniqueness” to their website. Almost all browsers nowadays such as Internet Explorer, FireFox, and others allow for the display of these icons.

Creating a favicon is very easy. You just need an image (JPG or GIF) and a favicon generator and that’s it!

When it comes to the favicon generator, you have the following as your options:

1) Offline Favicon Generator - These are favicon making softwares that you need to download free and install it to your computer.

To download your free favicon generator, here are some that I found:
a. Adsen Favicon 1.0 - Download Here
b. IcoFX 1.6.1 - Download Here

2) Online Favicon Generator - Since it’s online, you need to have an internet connection to be able to create your favicon. The neat part is that you don’t have to install anything, just upload the image you want and let the website do the rest.

To name a few, here they are:
a. freefavicons.info
b. favicon.co.uk
c. rw-designer.com
d. antifavicon.com
e. faviconcenter.com

Don’t forget, be sure to create or choose a small enough image to retain quality. Most preferably, use a square image so it is not skewed when reduced to the 16×16 icon size.
