What To Do With Your Blog When You’re Done Blogging

7 August 2008 388 views No Comment

Not all bloggers intend to blog for the rest of their lives. Hard to admit but there will be that time when the drive for blogging subsides. And one of the best way not to waste your hundreds or even thousands of articles is to just leave your blog as it is. Don’t update it anymore if you want but don’t delete your blog or even think of shutting it down.

You can’t just delete your articles or leave them. They are your life’s work… your sweat and your legacy. So make use of them the other way.

1. Just leave it like a static website.

My very first blog, HomeMade Style which started June of 2007 has been like this in the past 4 months. I have stop updating it. If you see any new entries, that’s normal. After all, more entries means more contents for the search engines to crawl. Even static websites needs to update if needed too, right?

The good thing is, the number of traffic remains the same. Most of it came from live searches. You see even if you don’t regularly update your blog, search engines will still love it as long as your contents are unique and relevant.

2. It will still make money for you.

A lot of bloggers earn from review offers. But since you have abandoned your blog, expect that this monetizing method will no longer fit. You may also rely on private advertising but expect also that this will decrease in time.

Find other alternatives like Adsense, Bidvertiser, or any other PPC programs. Static websites earn from these programs so can you.

3. Turn it into a book

I love the quotation, “If you want to achieve immortality, share your knowledge.

Now, if you are really serious of keeping your articles and want the future generations to know more about it. Publish all of it in a book. Books last for eternity, right? That’s immortality…. with your name on it.

4. Sell your blog?

I don’t know if a blogger have made this possible but if someone would offer you to continue what you have started, why not!
