5 Tips In Choosing Your Wordpress Theme

18 September 2008 400 views One Comment

You might have noticed a big change the way this blog looks. I have decided to change the design to make it look more clean and professional (I guess).

Two days ago, a feeling came in to me that I’m not satisfied anymore with the way WiseCrunch looks. So, I begun digging through the internet for a free premium wordpress theme that suits what I am looking for. Choosing the design is easy. The hard part is, making it work the way you want it to work. Or, making it display that way it should display on a computer screen.

Now here are 5 Easy Tips In Choosing Your Wordpress Theme:

1. Consider what you need, NOT what you want

Choose only a design that is relative to your blog’s topic. This way, visitors can easily identify what your blog is talking about. In short, control your emotion… you may find one blog design that you really love but think first if it really fits your blog not your want.

2. Wordpress version compatibility

Wordpress has released a lot of upgrades in a short period of time. With this a lot of free wordpress themes got left behind in terms of compatibility and functionality. After selecting the right design, check if the theme is compatible with the version of Wordpress you are or will be using.

Your theme will not work properly if installed with a different Wordpress version.

3. Widgitized Or not?

A lot of bloggers know nothing of PHP. If you are one of them, try to look for a Wordpress theme that is widgitized. This way, you will find it easy to modify your chosen theme with just drag and drop.

4. Viewable with other internet browser

This happened to me before so I’m telling you now. Check your theme if it works fine with other internet browsers like IE, Opera, Firefox, etc. There are a lot of free Wordpress theme that display seamlessly in Firefox but when viewed in IE, it’s broken. Though Firefox browsers are prefered by many, a lot are still using the old Internet Explorer. So choose only a theme that works best on both internet browsers.

5. Trial with resolutions

Once you have chosen your desired wordpress theme, try to view it in different screen resolutions. This is to make sure your design is not getting screwed up when viewed in different screen resolutions.

After following the tips above, you may now download your desired wordpress them and implement it to your blog.
