Gaming + Wii = Fun and Fitness

The first time Nintendo launches Wii, I was fascinated with the fact that the game console has the ability to follow the movement of your arms. That to play the games, you really need to do the actual movements like swinging, stretching, or punching.

Only this October when I got to play a Wii game for the first time, one of the things I noticed other than it’s fun to play is that it really makes you sweat. After the game I felt like I just gone through an exercise. Wheew! Who would not sweat when you are punching… swinging… and shouting for an hour?

Especially try Wii Sports and other fitness related Wii games and you’ll see what I mean.

After the game, I tried searching for similar findings on the internet and I was right. Wii does have health benefits for the gamer. A lot of people back in 2007 are saying that Wii has helped them lose weight. By playing daily at a certain amount of time, they have managed to reduce their weight.

There are some gamers who complained that they’ve experienced back pains and sore shoulders. Don’t they know if they find themselves in that situation, it only means that they lack in exercise?

In my own opinion, I think Wii is also good for those with heart problems since this can help them to exercise their upper body. By playing, they are also reducing their calories and fats since a lot of sweat are pumped out while playing the game.

Lately, EA Sports has released their new Wii game called “EA Sports Active”. The game encourage gamers to box, skip, and jog their way to fitness in the comfort of their own home with a personalised training programme.

Now you have another reason to make Wii gaming your exercise.

Wii has not only revolutionised the gaming world but also has successfully integrate health and fitness into video games.
