IRS Tax Refund Email Spam On The Loose

Three days ago, I received this email claiming to be from Internal Revenue Services (IRS), Department of the Treasury. The email has the following content:
Subject: IRS e-file refund notification
The body of the email contains:

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive 387.6$ tax refund under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Please submit the Tax Refund Request Form and allow us 3-9 days to process it.
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Hall Ingram, Commissioner
This notification has been sent by the Internal Revenue …

Free Laptop From Ericsson Email Scam

Around May of 2009, a co-employee of mine from my previous company sent me an email stating that I would get a free laptop from Ericsson if I forward his email to at least 20 people. That’s great isn’t it?

The Point Focus LLC Job Scam - Beware!

Lately, I’ve been receiving an email which is offering a job for the position of Financial Assistant. As per the email, the job is easy. You will be involved in accepting payments from their Australian, UK, and US clients to be deposited to your personal bank account and then resend the money to their partners. There is a commission of 4% of the total amount of money posted on your account so you can earn an estimated amount of $2,000 every month. (Weeh?!)

As I was reading a newspaper this morning, I came along a news about a nun who appears to be the latest victim of an e-mail scam. Luckily, she ignored the e-mail but if she had taken it seriously it would have costed her $2,300.
The e-mail came from the e-mail account of another nun who is one of her friends saying that she was stranded in Nigeria after loosing her passport and money. The e-mail also went on saying that she is attending a youth program in Africa and she …

Sometime around September I wrote a post about the sign-up payment I received from Freebies4Webmasters. It was a nice £10 payment and I felt very happy for that even though I did not received the £5 bonus for adding the code to my site within 72hrs after approval.
